Secondary students time

In this term I learned and did many fun things. This term we went to the Hershey chocolate experience. We also had book cafe. One of the things that sticks out to me the most, though, is designing things on Tinkercad.

At the Hershey chocolate experience we did the chocolate lab and went through the museum. In the chocolate lab we learned how chocolate is made and we even got to temper our own chocolate. Tempering is the process of agitating and cooling liquid chocolate so that it is hard and shiny instead of melty and matte. In the museum there were many displays on the life of Milton Hershey his company and everything he did and how he did it. There were also little coins that you could tap on to an activity to do activities. Speaking of activities, one of my favorites was Tinkercad.

Tinkercad is a website that allows you to create 3D designs of pretty much anything you want. CAD means Computer Aided Design. This term I created two things using Tinkercad’s new mode called codeblocks, which is kind of like scratch, where you drag blocks of code and stick them together to create things. I think that this is the hardest mode Tinkercad has and it takes a long time to make things. The two designs that I made I added animations to the design by using a move command and telling it to repeat it a few times. The two designs I made were a dog wagging its tail and a baseball batter hitting a ball, these took pages and pages of code. While we're talking about pages I'll move on to book cafe.

For book cafe this month we read two books: Anne of Green Gables and the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Anne is a little girl with a big imagination trying to find a good home. Tom is a little boy who is immature, likes to make trouble on the streets, and ends up witnessing a murder. With book cafe we usually have visual aids, mine was white paint and a paintbrush.
